Osaka / Phony Cops

The score truly announces itself during the dramatic flyover of Osaka, cast by Scott in a glow of orange and pink with smokestacks choking out billows of industrial exhaust. The Osaka theme opens with thundering beats, and is performed on a Japanese fue. Its oriental intervals thrust us into the foreign land, acknowledging the culture clash about to hit the fan – and its dark, foreboding tone prophesies violence. Nick and Charlie hand Sato over to Japanese authorities who enter the back of the plane, scored by pulsing clatter, bass, and fat synth surges.
